Join us in the important work of feeding our community!

Each week, more than 60 volunteers help operate the pantry—and we welcome individuals from all walks of life to be part of our team.

Our Street Youth Drop-in Center relies on community groups to prepare and deliver hot meals each Saturday. We also need mature adults to serve as hosts.

To volunteer as a hot meal coordinator, contact the Drop-in Meal coordinator to receive training and be added to the delivery schedule.

  • Volunteers serve as adult role models who can interact with the youth, occasionally participate in activities and games, but primarily are there to provide an adult presence at the center.

Hot meal coordinators recruit other volunteers to cook and deliver a complete meal, with seconds to the center. This is a great activity for Sunday school or service groups.

  • Hosts arrive about 30 minutes before the center opens to assist with set up and remain after close to help clean up.

Groups providing hot meals typically volunteer once per quarter. The group cooks an entree, two side dishes, bread, and a dessert for 50. One or two volunteers deliver the food to the Center mid-afternoon and may remain to help serve.

  • To host, contact the Micah 6 executive director at executive_director@micah6austin.org
